HC Deb 31 July 1924 vol 176 cc2264-5W
Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air how many chaplains there are in the Royal Air Force; how many chaplains are stationed in Iraq; how often divine service is held in Iraq in the camps with chaplains; and whether attendance is compulsory on all ranks and branches of the service who are noted as being members of the creed of the chaplains conducting divine service so far as the exigencies of the service will permit?

Mr. LEACH

The answer to the first part of the question is 32; to the second, 5. As regards the third part, celebrations of Holy Communion and parade services are held regularly every Sunday at Bagdad and Hinaidi and at the Royal Air Force British Hospital, Hinaidi. Attendance at parade service is compulsory except for those on leave or prevented from attending by the exigencies of the service. I may add that divine services at which attendance is voluntary are held every Sunday evening at the stations mentioned.
