HC Deb 31 July 1924 vol 176 c2271W
Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Home Secretary whether he is now satisfied that his legal powers are sufficient to deal with the evil of the so-called night clubs within the Metropolitan Police Area; and, if not, whether he will seek additional powers through this House?

Mr. DAVIES

I have nothing at present to add to the answer which my right hon. Friend gave this day last week.

Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Home Secretary whether there is any legal hour beyond which night clubs in London are not permitted to remain open; if so, what is this hour; and whether it is enforced within the Metropolitan police area?

Mr. DAVIES

There is no hour prescribed by Statute for the closing of clubs, and the rest of the question does not arise.
