CAYZERasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty Whether, in view of the housing shortage, any condition was imposed at the recent sale by auction of the Coastguard cottages, Southsea, that these cottages should be used as dwelling-houses; and, if not, whether he can give any undertaking that such a condition will he imposed when any similar Admiralty property is disposed of in the future?
§ Mr. AMMONThe answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. I regret that the suggested undertaking cannot be given, but it is extremely unlikely that the Coastguard properties still remaining to be disposed of will, when sold, be used for other than dwelling-houses.
