HC Deb 30 July 1924 vol 176 c2086W
Mr. PENNY

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether he can see his way to making the subway under the Embankment available to the public during the school holidays so that children can avoid the dangerous road crossing at this point and whether he can arrange for a police constable to be stationed at the end of Westminster Bridge to direct them to the subway?

Mr. JOWETT

I am quite prepared to give facilities so far as the portion of the subway under my jurisdiction is concerned, but the matter is primarily one for the London County Council, who, I understand, are considering the proposal. There are also private interests involved.
