asked the Homo Secretary what provision is made in the event of the contemplated removal of an individual from a prison or infirmary to an asylum, that information as to his whereabouts shall be given to some friend, as distinct from relative, indicated by him, in order that the statutory safeguard embodied in Section 49 of the Lunacy Act may be available for him?

When a prisoner is about to he removed from prison to asylum, information is sent to the person who was named by the prisoner on reception as his next-of-kin, and also to any other person whom he may desire to have informed. A further letter is sent to the same people when the removal has taken place
