HC Deb 23 July 1924 vol 176 cc1340-1W
Sir P. RICHARDSON

asked the Home Secretary whether these are any Regulations compelling American citizens residing in England to register their children with the local police as aliens and to procure identification cards for them whilst they are under 16, and when they pass 16 years of age, such children having been born in England and having been registered at the American Consulate at birth as American citizens?

Mr. HENDERSON

An alien is not required to register with the police in this country until he has attained the age of 16 years. A person born in this country and in consequence possessing British nationality would not be required to register merely because he possessed a foreign nationality also.
