HC Deb 22 July 1924 vol 176 c1130W
Sir T. BRAMSDON

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he is aware that certain draughtsmen now employed in H.M, S. "Vernon" are to be replaced by established men; and, if this change is considered imperative, will he investigate the possibility of employing the ex-service men so displaced in other congenial employment or extend to them the privilege granted to other men replaced by established men of remaining in their present Department until they find suitable employment elsewhere?

Mr. AMMON

No final decision has yet been reached upon the numbers of permanent draughtsmen to be allowed in H.M.S. "Vernon" and pending settlement of that matter, the question of replacing unestablished men will not arise. Ultimately the replacement of unestablished by established men to a greater or less extent will probably become necessary, and when these circumstances arise, I will give careful consideration to the hon. Member's suggestions.
