§ Mr. GROVESasked the Minister of Labour if he will investigate the circumstances of the stoppage of unemployment insurance benefit from Thomas Dawkins, of 47, Leslie Road, Leyton, card No. L485, book No. 58,143, Shoreditch, who has been unemployed since April?
§ Mr. SHAWThe claim to uncovenanted benefit made by Thomas Dawkins, of 47, Leslie Road, Leyton, who is 32 years of age and single, was recommended for dis- 913W allowance by the local committee on the ground that they were not satisfied that he was genuinely seeking, but unable to, obtain, whole time employment. It appears that, with the exception of a few days' work as a labourer, the applicant's only record of employment since May, 1921, is five months' relief work. The applicant did not satisfy the committee 914W that he had made reasonable efforts to obtain other work, and there are no circumstances present which would justify a reversal of the committee's recommendation. If, however, there is fresh evidence available which was not before the committee, I shall be glad to arrange for the case to be reconsidered by the committee.
