HC Deb 21 July 1924 vol 176 c906W
Mr. HAYES

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the claim of ex-sergeant Dennis Murphy, Royal Trish Constabulary, for compensation for loss of house property in Cashel, County Tipperary, has been settled yet by the Royal Irish Constabulary tribunal; and, if not, whether he will expedite a settlement?

Mr. DAVIES

I have been asked to reply. The Royal Irish Constabulary tribunal have already given Mr. Murphy considerable assistance, and he was informed in October last that liability could not be accepted against public funds in respect of this claim. The Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust have been asked whether they can take over Mr. Murphy's house and they are still considering the matter. I will inquire as to whether a settlement can be expedited.
