§ Mr. JOWETTNo Crown property is held by the Commissioners of His900W Majesty's Works and Public Buildings to let normally for business purposes. The only residential Crown property in charge of the Department consists of various housing estates taken over from the Ministry of Munitions, the Admiralty and the Air Ministry, and coastguard cottages transferred from the Admiralty. In a few cases houses have remained unlet for the periods mentioned owing to trade depression or to the cessation of war activities in the neighbourhood. A small number of coastguard cottages have been rendered vacant owing to the reduction of the coastguard personnel and have not yet been re-let owing chiefly to their inaccessibility.
