HC Deb 21 July 1924 vol 176 c901W
Mr. BRIDGEMAN

asked the Minister of Health if he intends to introduce legislation to amend the Local Government Act, 1888, so as to provide for a larger contribution than 4s. per head towards the greatly increased cost of maintenance of lunatic patients now borne by boards of guardians?

Major STEEL

asked the Minister of Health whether he will consider the introduction of legislation to amend the Local Government Act of 1888, so as to provide for the repayment to boards of guardians of a larger share of the cost to them of lunatic patients, in view of the increased cost of keeping these patients, and the consequent additional burden on local rates?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I would refer to the answer which my right hon. Friend gave on the 16th July, in reply to a similar question by the hon. Member for Finchley (Mr. T. Robertson).
