HC Deb 21 July 1924 vol 176 cc904-5W
Lieut.-Colonel HOWARD-BURY

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that orthodox Jewry in Palestine and throughout the world is opposed to the proposed commercial statute for Palestine, which places all the Jews under the domination of the Zionist organisation; whether he will consider these views before ratifying the ordinance; and whether the Government of Palestine has had numerously-signed petitions already on the same subject?

Mr. THOMAS

I presume that the hon. and gallant Gentleman refers to the proposed Statute of the Jewish Community. I cannot accept his description of the effect of the proposed Statute. The whole question is under my consideration, and I prefer to make no statement on the subject for the present.
