HC Deb 16 July 1924 vol 176 cc389-90W
Mr. E. GRENFELL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Government has received any explanation from the Soviet Government as to why it is placing obstacles in the way of Russian trade by refusing to allow the Russo-Caucasian Company, Limited, to remain on the register of foreign firms in the U.S.S.R., and is ordering the company to liquidate its business and withdraw its manager from Russia?

Mr. PONSONBY

Negotiations between the. Russo-Caucasian Company and the Soviet authorities have now been resumed and the liquidation and expulsion orders temporarily suspended. In these circumstances, I do not think it desirable to make any further statement until these fresh negotiations have been brought to a conclusion.
