HC Deb 14 July 1924 vol 176 cc57-8W
Mr. DARBISHIRE

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that two petitions, addressed to him by certain planters, merchants, and shopkeepers in Malacca, praying for the repeal of the Rubber Restriction Ordinance, have recently been sent to the Governor of the Straits Settlements to be forwarded to him; that these petitions have not been received here; and if he will ascertain why they have been held up in Singapore?

Mr. THOMAS

No, Sir, I have no information about these petitions. If they have been sent to the Governor, I have no doubt that he will duly transmit them to me with his report, as required by the Colonial Regulations.
