HC Deb 14 July 1924 vol 176 cc43-4W
Mr. PRINGLE

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to a resolution passed at the conference of the Master Builders' Federation which condemns the financial proposals of the Government with respect to the housing programme; whether this federation was a party to the agreement contained in the Report of the National House Building Committee; and, if so, whether, in view of this repudiation of the financial proposals of the Bill, the agreement still subsists?

Mr. GREENWOOD

My right hon. Friend has seen a Press report to the effect stated in the first part of the question. As to the second, the employers' representatives on the National House Building Committee were appointed by the National Federation of Building Trades Employers. As to the third part of the question, my right hon. Friend cannot usefully express any opinion until he has the actual text of the resolution, and can consider the particular point or points with which it deals. The hon. Member will readily understand that the present situation in the building trade does not conduce to reasonable statements.
