WILSONasked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that there 2274W are numerous cases of boys entering workshops in the engineering trade who do not now serve anything in the nature of an apprenticeship, and that at about 16 years of age they are put upon repetition work which continues until they are 21, when they are discharged; and whether, if he has no information to this effect, he will inquire into the matter?
§ Mr. SHAWI am aware that a considerable number of boys employed in the engineering trades do not serve an apprenticeship, and that many of these are employed on repetition work, but there is no information to indicate that these boys are discharged at the age of 21. If, however, my hon. Friend will let me have particulars of the class of case he has in mind, I will gladly look into the matter.
