Sir F. HALLasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the nature of the preference now granted with regard to sugar produced in the British West Indies; and whether it is intended to continue this arrangement?
Mr. GRAHAMIn common with sugar produced in and consigned from other parts of the Empire, British West Indian sugar is granted a preferential rebate of one-sixth of the full Customs Duty levied on similar non-Empire sugar. As regards the second part of the question, I regret that I can add nothing to the statements that my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer has already made on this subject.
