§ Mr. WELLSasked the Secretary of State for Air if, in view of the importance of finding work for the unemployed in Bedford at the Cardington Aerodrome, he will state whether there is any obstacle to the successful conclusion of the airship agreement; if not, whether there is any method by which the work on building the airship and sheds can be expedited; and can be state what procedure will be necessary to bring the full scheme into effect?
§ Sir S. HOAREThe settlement of the details of the airship agreement has proved a complicated matter, and although at an advanced stage, is not yet complete. I have arranged for the promoters of the scheme to start preliminary work at- Cardington as soon as the terms of the necessary legal documents have been settled. The agreement will have to be laid before Parliament for confirmation, and the scheme cannot be fully inaugurated until Parliamentary approval has been obtained.
