HC Deb 27 February 1924 vol 170 c514W
Mr. LIVINGSTONE

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether he has nominated any representative to serve on the committee established for the purpose of allocating the fund raised for the relief of the distress in the Hebrides; and whether, in view of the fact that this fund has been subscribed chiefly on account of the distress in the Western Isles, he will instruct his representative to take, steps to ensure that the island interests will have first claim on the fund?

Mr. ADAMSON

No representative of the Government has been appointed to serve on the committee which, I would remind the hon. Member, has been established by those responsible for collecting subscriptions from the public. Officials of the Board of Health and other Departments attend meetings of the committee for the purpose of furnishing information in the possession of their Departments, but they are not members of the committee. This being so, the second part of the question does not arise.
