§ Mr. TREVELYANI am not aware that occasion has arisen for legislation1556W in this matter. As is indicated in Articles 1 and 2 of the Code and Article 8 of the Secondary School Regulations, the Board recognise the value of training in vocal music and instruction incidental to the appreciation of music as an element in a general education. The question whether instrumental music can be taught and practised in school hours is one for consideration in relation to the particular circumstances of each school, regard being had to the time available and the preservation of a proper balance among the several subjects of the curriculum.
