§ Mr. MILLSasked the Prime Minister what progress has been made in the attempt to restore the shattered currency of the many countries comprising Eastern Europe, in view of its immense potentialities for international trade?
§ The PRIME MINISTERIt would not be possible within the limits of alt answer to a question to refer to all the cases in which countries of Eastern Europe have recently attained a substantial degree of currency stability. Clearly, stabilisation depends very largely on the internal financial policy of the country concerned, but I may draw attention to the cases of Austria, where stability has been assisted by international co-operation through the League of Nations, and to the Free City of Danzig, where a scheme has recently been adopted through the League. We are endeavouring to secure the adoption of a scheme also in Hungary.
