HC Deb 15 February 1924 vol 169 cc1186-7W
Viscountess ASTOR

asked the Minister of Pensions whether his attention has been drawn to the case of Mr. T. Barn-field, 8, Mount Gould Crescent, Plymouth. late Royal Garrison Artillery, who formerly served in the Royal Navy for nine years; and whether he can reconsider the decision that only four of these years shall count as pensionable service?

Mr. WALSH

I have been asked to reply. The Royal Warrant for Pay and Promotion explicitly provides that service in the Royal Navy given by a man who subsequently enlists into the Army shall not count for Army pension if it exceed four years. The converse rule holds good in the Navy. I regret, therefore, that I am unable to reconsider the decision.
