§ Commander BELLAIRSasked the Secretary of State for War what is the cost of maintenance of the British Army in Egypt; whether there has been any decision as the result of the negotiations which were entered upon when the Egyptian Parliament refused to include their share of the cost in the budget; and the amount of this share?
§ Mr. WALSHThe estimated total cost of the British forces in Egypt (including the Sudan) in 1924–25 is £2,747,200, as shown on page 37 of Army Estimates. The Estimates also allowed for a contribution of £150,000 from the Egyptian Government (see page 214 of the Estimates). No decision has yet been arrived at regarding the refusal of the Egyptian Parliament to make provision for this contribution.
