§ Mr. WILLEYasked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the large number of empty houses now held for sale, it will be possible, under the Housing (No. 2) Bill, for local authorities to make suggestions to owners as to practical and remunerative methods of conversion into flats or maisonettes; and, if not, whether he will consider the desirability of giving them at least such advisory power?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINIt will certainly be open to local authorities to make such suggestions to owners of houses, and the1642W Bill proposes to enable local authorities, if they so desire, to grant assistance to persons undertaking provision of flats by the method indicated in Clause 5.
