HC Deb 02 May 1923 vol 163 cc1411-2W
Mr. BRIANT

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the principals of the women staff in the Admiralty, the Inland Revenue, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, and the Public Trustee Office are acting as women establishment officers; and, if so, whether they are consulted on all questions affecting the allocation of work as between men and women, the desirability or otherwise of appointing women to vacancies hitherto held by men, and on all questions of policy arising out of the interpretation of Clause 2 of the Resolution of the House on 5th August, 1921?

Major BOYD-CARPENTER

It is not possible, within the limits of question and answer to enter into a detailed description of the duties of individual officers. I understand, however, that, while the wide differences of function and organisation of the four Departments concerned rule out anything like a standardised set of duties of the principals of women staff, the answer to both parts of the question is, broadly speaking, in the affirmative.
