§ Major BOYD-CARPENTERIt is not possible to ascertain the yield of the Entertainments Duty from any particular class of entertainment, as the duty is collected partly by means of the sale of stamped tickets and stamps, and there is no information as to the nature of the entertainment for which such tickets and stamps are purchased.
§ Sir W. de FRECEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, seeing that out of each 10s. received by the Post Office in respect of licences issued to holders of broadcasting instruments, the Postmaster-General gives 5s. to the Broadcasting Company to enable them to give concerts, etc., he will consider giving a similar proportion of the sum received in Entertainments Duty to the owners of places of entertainment to enable them to provide other forms of entertainment for the public?
