HC Deb 26 March 1923 vol 162 cc65-6W
Mr. GRIFFITHS

asked the Minister of Labour what proportion of the temporary women civil servants who were recruited in 1914 to 1916, who were refused permission to join the women's corps later, and were subsequently substituted by ex-service men, have been given Governments grants in aid of training for other employment or by way of gratuity; and whether home-service conscripts were eligible for such grants and gratuities?

Mr. BETTERTON

Among the women who have received grants in aid of training from the Central Committee on Women's Training and Employment are a number who were in temporary Government service during the War, but the total number of these cannot be stated, nor can it be stated whether any of them had applied for permission to join a women's corps and been refused or dissuaded.
