asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether special transport rates are given for the carriage of agricultural produce in any of the British Dominions and Colonies; and, if so, the amounts of the rates charged for such produce, as compared with the rates charged for the carriage of other goods?

I regret that the information desired is not available in a. readily accessible form and that the investigation necessary for the preparation of a comprehensive statement cannot be undertaken in present circumstances. I will, however, communicate with the hon. Member with a view to ascertaining how far I am in a position to assist him.
