HC Deb 26 March 1923 vol 162 cc78-80W
Viscount CURZON

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether it is the policy of the Department to replace the flower beds in the Royal parks, for the enjoyment of those who would otherwise have little or no opportunity for seeing flowers, as soon as conditions or opportunities permit?

Sir J. BAIRD

I should very much like to increase the number of flower beds in the parks if funds were available, but unfortunately they are not. Perhaps I may mention that we have at different times in the past received presents of birds, trees and bulbs; and if anyone is prepared to give us any of the latter, I should like to plant them on the site adjoining Park Lane, which formerly was occupied by flowers.
