Sir J. HEWETT

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether lie can give, for the whole company-managed and company-owned railways in India for each of the years 1900–1 onwards, figures to show the cost of running the railways, the amount of interest paid on capital, the amounts paid to debenture holders and annuitants, the gross profits, the amounts distributed in dividends, and the net amount credited to the State?

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he can give separately, for each of the State railways in India, the North Western Railway, the Oudh and Rohiltchand Railway, and the Eastern Bengal State Railway, for each of the years 1900–1 onwards, the cost of running the railways, the gross profits, and the net amount credited or debited to the State after allowing for payment of interest on the capital invested in them?
