HC Deb 26 March 1923 vol 162 cc72-3W
Lieut.-Colonel ARCHER-SHEE

asked the President of the Board of Trade the total value of the products and manufactures, British and Irish, consigned from Germany, the United States of America, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and India, respectively, during the years 1921 and l922; the value in each case of imports of articles wholly or mainly manufactured; and the percentage of manufactured goods to total imports in each case?

Lieut.- Colonel BUCKLEY

I am assuming that the words "British and Irish" in this question were inserted by inadvertence. The following statement shows the value of the merchandise imported into the United Kingdom during the years 1921 and 1922 registered as consigned from the countries specified, distinguishing, in respect of the imports during 1921, the value and proportion of articles wholly or mainly manufactured:

(92.6 per cent.) in respect of articles wholly or mainly manufactured. Similar particulars for the other countries specified are not yet available for 1922.
