HC Deb 21 March 1923 vol 161 cc2579-80W
Viscountess ASTOR

asked the Financial Secretary to the Admiralty whether he can inform the House why the Royal Marine schoolmasters are excluded from the operation of A.F.O. 1982/22, which granted improved conditions of pay, promotion, and pension to Royal Naval schoolmasters, on the ground that Royal Marine schoolmasters do not go to sea, in view of the fact that other Royal Marine warrant officers who are not called upon for sea service do not suffer any reduction in their naval rates of pay, etc.?

Mr. AMERY:

The Royal Marine school masters are entered as warrant officers and cannot be compared with other Royal Marine warrant officers who have all worked their way up through the ranks, and have served at sea either as warrant officers or prior to promotion to warrant rank.
