Mr. HARPER PARKERasked the Home Secretary whether he has any information to lay before the House in relation to the disturbances which have been taking place recently in the South Wales coalfields: and what steps have been taken to preserve order and to give security to life and property in the areas where such disturbances have taken place?
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANI have received a report from the Chief Constable of Monmouth regarding a disturbance last week at Ynysddu, to which a deputation introduced by the hon. Member drew attention on Thursday last: and as I have already informed him, proceedings are being taken against a number of men who are believed to have been chiefly concerned. I am informed that arrangements have also been made to increase the number of police in the locality, and it is hoped that the measures which have been taken will prevent the development of any further disorder.
