HC Deb 21 March 1923 vol 161 c2593W
Mr. MIDDLETON

asked the Postmaster-General whether the scheme to add an additional storey to the Central Telegraph Office building has been abandoned; and under what circumstances the sum of over £10,000 voted by the House to be used for the building scheme during the year 1922–3 is withdrawn from the purpose for which it was intended?

Sir J. BAIRD

The scheme for the provision of an additional storey is not being proceeded with. In order to avoid capital expenditure, consideration is being given to alternative proposals, and the matter is now under discussion with the Post Office. The sum of £10,000 has, therefore, been surrendered.
