MORRISONasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that a promise was given to the stationery trades last year that, provided there was a surplus, the country would be able to return to pre-War postal rates, including the penny and halfpenny post; and whether he can make any statement as to his intentions with regard to this promise?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS:I cannot find that any such promise has been made to the stationery trades. I am not yet in a position to make any statement as to the possibility of a further reduction of postage rates, and can only say that the matter is receiving consideration.
