§ Mr. LEACHasked the Minister of Health what was the total amount of expenditure of all the local authorities of the kingdom for the last year of which he has now returns; and the total Exchequer grants to the same authorities for the same year?
Mr. CHAMBERLAIN:The total expenditure from the rates by local authorities in England and Wales for the year 1920–21 was approximately £152,000,000, while the Exchequer grants for the same year amounted to £63,000,000.
