§ Colonel WEDGWOODasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the yield of the Mineral Rights Duty in the financial year 1921–22; what was the rate of that duty; and what was the amount of the mining royalties, etc., on which it was chargeable for that year?
§ Mr. BALDWINThe net receipt of Mineral Rights Duty, which was charged at the rate of 1s. in the pound, in the year 1921–22 was £221,658. I regret that the information asked for in the last part of the question is not available, but the rental value as prescribed by the Finance (1909–10) Act, 1910, of all rights 1297W to work minerals and of all mineral way-leaves in the United Kingdom on which Mineral Rights Duty was paid in that year is twenty times the duty received, namely, £4,433,160.
