§ Mr. GOSLINGasked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware of the practice of the employers of the port of London to give preference of employment to men whose insurance cards bear the stamps of the current week; and whether he will issue Regulations making this practice illegal, in order to protect the interests of casual workers and penalise the employers for taking advantage of the national Exchequer?
§ Major BOYD-CARPENTER:A case in which action of this kind was alleged was recently reported to us. The National Council of Port Labour Employers made inquiry into the case and informed us that there was no foundation for the allegation.
