§ Mr. A. GREENWOODasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the number and amount of reductions made during 1920, 1921, and 1922 in the rates of salaries of the lower grade clerks employed in provincial offices of the Pensions Ministry, and the present rate of the lowest grade male clerks; whether any reduction or increase was sanctioned during the same period in the salaries of regional directors of pensions; and, if so, the amount of such reduction or increase?
§ Captain CRAIG:I have been asked to reply. The graded clerks in the Ministry of Pensions are paid at rates common to the Government service, and during the three years ended 31st December, 1922, temporary Grade III clerks in the provinces have had one increase of 5s. a week and three reductions of 6s., 2s. 11d. and 3s. a week respectively, making a net reduction of 6s. 11d. a week. No alteration has been made in the rate of salary for regional directors during the same period.
