§ Lieut.-Colonel JAMESasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, in view of the hiatus occurring between boys leaving the primary schools at the age of 14 years and their subsequent enlistment in the Royal Navy, he is prepared to consider a scheme whereby it may be possible for a boy to be recruited on leaving school without, as at present, interrupting the course of his education?
§ Commander EYRES-MONSELLThe question of the age of entry of boys in the Royal Navy has recently been under consideration. It is regretted that any lowering of the minimum age for entry would be impracticable, if only on account of the expense involved.
