§ Sir M. BARLOWThe numbers of bakers, biscuit makers and cake makers on the Live Registers of Employment Exchanges in the Glasgow area were 972 at 5th February, 1923, and 494 at 7th February, 1922. I cannot state separately the number of such persons who were also casually employed.
§ Captain HAYasked the Minister of Labour if he will consider the introduction of legislation to prohibit night work in bakeries; and whether he is aware that such a measure would result in a diminution of unemployment in the bakery trade?
