asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he will state the percentage of the British military forces to the civilian population, and the comparative figures for France, Belgium, Poland, Russia, Japan, Rumania, Jugo-Slavia and Czechoslovakia?

The percentage of the regular British military forces in Great Britain (including the Army of the Rhine) to the civilian popula- tion is 23 per cent. The comparative figures for the other countries are:
