§ Colonel ASHLEYI have been asked to answer this question. The returns for the year ending 31st March, 1923, are not yet complete. For the previous year, the lowest consumption of coal per unit of electricity generated at public supply stations in Great Britain was 1.7 lbs. The Commissioners have no corresponding information for Irish electricity undertakings, which are no longer under their jurisdiction.
