§ Lieut.-Colonel CROFTasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport whether he is aware that the new great east and west road, already commenced from Reigate to Dorking, has been brought right up to and into the village of Buckland, against the express wishes of the inhabitants, thus creating a bottle-neck and also affecting the amenities and beauties of that village; and whether it is the policy of the Ministry to by-pass such villages?
§ Colonel ASHLEYI am aware of the progress made with this road, which at present stops short of the village of Buckland. Plans have recently been submitted to my Department by the Surrey County Council for the construction of a by-pass round the village, and it is my hope that some such proposal will be found feasible.
