LEIGHasked the Under-Secretary of State for War the date upon which Red Barracks, Woolwich, was vacated by the Royal Army Ordnance Corps; for what purpose the building has been utilised since that date; whether it is the intention of the War Office to ensure that the building shall be used to its fullest capacity in the near future; and, if not, whether, in the interests of economy, he will consider the possibility of handing it over to the Commissioner of Works to accommodate Civil Service staffs at present occupying temporary premises at costly rentals?
Lieut. - Colonel GUINNESSRed Barracks, Woolwich, was vacated by the Royal Army Ordnance Corps on 21st October, 1921. Since that date it has been used as lecture rooms and laboratories for the Artillery College, and is 691W still so utilised to its fullest capacity. As far as can be foreseen, the buildings will continue to be utilised in this manner.
