HC Deb 26 April 1923 vol 163 cc700-1W
Mr. LAMBERT

asked the President of the Board of Trade what were the numbers and values of British motor-cars exported, and the numbers and values of foreign motor-cars imported for each year 1911, 1912, 1913, and 1920, 1921, 1922, respectively?

Viscount WOLMER

The following statement shows for each of the years specified the number and declared value of complete motor-cars and of motor-car chassis, respectively, of British manufacture exported from the United Kingdom together with corresponding particulars regarding the net imports of cars and chassis in the same years.

Sir N. JODRELL

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he is aware that an unusually large number of seals have recently appeared in the Wash and are seriously depleting the fish in those waters; and will he take steps to deal with the situation without delay?

Sir R. SANDERS

I am aware than an increase of the number of seals in the Wash has been reported by the Chief Fishery Officer of the Eastern Sea Fisheries Committee, and there is no doubt that they destroy large quantities of fish. My Department has neither funds nor staff available for the destruction of seals, but I hope that, as a result of a suggestion made by the Ministry's fishery officer in the district, arrangements may be made locally for dealing with this pest.
