HC Deb 26 April 1923 vol 163 c717W
Mr. McENTEE

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport whether he is aware that many of the second and third-class carriages on the suburban lines of the London and North Eastern Railway are not kept in a condition of reasonable cleanliness, and that representations on the matter from local public bodies and from private individuals and organisations have failed to secure any marked improvement; and whether his Department has any power to secure reasonable comfort and cleanliness for passengers on this railway?

Colonel ASHLEY

I am not aware of the circumstances referred to in this question, but if the hon. Member will furnish me with particulars of his complaint I will have inquiries made.
