HC Deb 26 April 1923 vol 163 c702W
Major WARING

asked the Under-Secretary to the Scottish Board of Health whether, in the event of the 10s. duty on imported malting being accepted, he proposes to set up any authority for dealing with agricultural wages in Scotland where conciliation committees are not in existence?

Captain ELLIOT

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the replies which I gave to the hon. and learned Member for East Fife (Mr. Millar) on the 13th and 20th of March. In view of the attitude of the Farm Servants' Union and of the National Farmers' Union of Scotland, my noble Friend does not propose that any further action should be taken at present under Section 4 (1) of the Corn Production Acts (Repeal) Act, 1921, or otherwise.
