HC Deb 17 April 1923 vol 162 c1902W
Mr. J. H. SIMPSON

asked the Minister of Agriculture what are the functions and duties of the agricultural assessor attached to the agricultural tribunal of investigation; whether he is considered to be a member of that tribunal; and, if not, whether he was authorised to affix his signature, as a member, to the interim Report?

Major BARNSTON

I have been asked to reply. The agricultural assessor was appointed to advise the members of the tribunal from time to time on any technical matter relating to agriculture on which they might desire to have his opinion. I am informed that they invited the assessor to sign the Report as expressing his concurrence in the recommendations, but I would point out to the hon. Member that the assessor has expressly signed the Report as assessor, and not as a member of the tribunal.
