HC Deb 12 April 1923 vol 162 cc1307-8W
Mr. W. GRAHAM

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport whether, in view of the present controversy regarding the financial position of the railway companies and railway rates, there is at the Ministry of Transport a detailed record of the manner in which the payment of £60,000,000 to the railway companies in respect of war-time agreements was made up; and, if so, what are the leading items in the record, with the amounts allocated to each?

Colonel ASHLEY

I am unable to add anything to the full statement made on the 28th June, 1921, by the then Minister of Transport during the Committee State of the Railways Bill in explanation of the scope of the lump-sum settlement.
